Why I Love Library/Media Specialists

I have always been impressed with Library/Media Specialists, well before I met Peggy Sheehy. It occurred to me years ago that the school media center is quite literally the center of the universe with respect to educational technology – and has been since the beginning. Kathryn Greenhill of Freemantle, Western Australia writes the Librarians Matter blog, which features this spot-on article, “Ten very good reasons why your librarians should be in Second Life,” and its equally-impressive counterpoint, “Six very bad reasons to have a library branch in Second Life.” Getting ready to stand in front of a bunch of teachers and adminstrators to talk about Second Life? I am … next week … and her points are well worth absorbing and processing before approaching the lectern. I plan to!
