The Story of My “Second Life”

The official conference blog asks us to post three things we hope to gain by attending this year … it’s my first time as an attendee, my expectations are way high! I’m working with Sylvia Martinez on a panel discussion regarding Second Life that will utilize Voicethread.com’s amazing service. This tool will greatly enrich and extend the conversation by allowing people to comment directly on our slides. Here’s our teaser video, which we created with Animoto.

Anyway, the three things I am looking forward to / hope to gain are:

1. A whole new group of friends I’ve never met, people to see at NECC in San Antonio (or other conferences).
2. An understanding of how real people are overcoming real challenges in their real classrooms by integrating Web 2.0 and other tools (like Second Life) into their curriculum.
3. A review of the best and most creative student work utilizing these tools for project ideas I can use in my own district.
